Our swim clinic is just the beginning.
Future Headwater Athletics programs will include running, hiking, mountain biking, and endurance clinics — giving kids year-round access to athletic experiences that build focus, resilience, and confidence from the inside out.
Every Headwater Athletics program is built on four core pillars:
-
Cognitive Growth Through Movement
Structured aquatic training is designed to stimulate developing brains, sharpen concentration, and strengthen focus — because building attention skills is at the heart of everything we do.
-
Heart-Led Coaching
Our coaches bring empathy, encouragement, and intentional mentorship to every session. Our swim clinic, led by Director of Swimming Jonathan Burgess, builds character alongside athletic ability.
-
Grit & Resilience
We design challenges that help kids develop perseverance and determination — skills built in the water that carry into school, sports, and everyday life.
-
Positive Community & Confidence
A supportive, joyful environment where kids form real friendships, feel safe to try hard things, and discover what they’re truly capable of.
Headwater Athletics is a Boulder, Colorado-based nonprofit designing programs for kids ages 6 – 13 who could use a little help channeling their energy, sharpening their focus, and finding their confidence. Focus is a skill, and like any skill, it can be taught, practiced, and strengthened.
This summer 2026, we are launching our inaugural 9-Week Swim Clinic running June – July in Boulder and Louisville. With a maximum of just 10 kids per class, every child receives genuine individual attention in a welcoming, joyful environment where they build real skills and real friendships.
